The Association makes grants to members who can demonstrate need.

To qualify for their request to be considered, the applicant must be a visually impaired person living in the borough.

In past years grants have ranged in value from £50 for a subscription to RNIB Talking Books to almost £2000 to purchase computer equipment for a blind pupil’s home use. Grants have also been given for assistance with holiday expenses, redecoration after a burst water pipe, purchase of a cooker,Jaws computer software, and other aids like Easy Reader.

Application forms and information are available from the Social Service Sensory Impairment Team on 020 8547 6600, and from the KAB Secretary (visit ‘Who to Contact’ on the ‘About Us’ page).

If the applicant is not in receipt of income support, housing benefit, or family credit then we ask for “Detailed Financial Circumstances” in a format similar to that used by the local authority.
